OIC MISSION

To provide training and job placement services to low-income persons. OIC believes in the capacity of all individuals to grow and become self-reliant, if provided job skills, life skills, and proper motivation.
                  Statement of Capability

OIC’s basic philosophy—“We Help ourselves”—is important to the growth and development of those who need help in preparation for entering the job market. OIC instruction is training-centered and individualized, and training goals are job oriented. Within the self help philosophy, OIC believes that each trainee should be given the opportunity to demonstrate pride in himself/herself and an interest in his/her future by accepting a hand-up rather than a hand-out.

OIC provides service to the whole person, with total development of both attitudes and skills. The OIC program encompasses basic components, welded into a total manpower delivery system, to enhance and achieve this service.

Through program evaluation and planning, OIC retains its current-ness, vitality, and flexibility. Good management procedures, intelligent recordkeeping and close supervision minimize problems and permit up-to-date program tracking and reporting. Long-range planning promotes program continuity and the economical expenditure of funds.

Since inception of OIC of Anne Arundel County, community support has been outstanding. Private groups, business and industry, civic, church and government agencies have given both tangible and intangible assistance. Past County Executives and other appropriate county offices have, in particular, been very supportive. This support for the program has been instrumental in OIC rapidly becoming a necessary part of the County’s rapidly becoming a necessary part of the County’s efforts to help eliminate unemployment among its citizens.

OIC of Anne Arundel County is a private, non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors representative of the community we serve, and supported by an Industrial Advisory Council whose members represent the major job providing industries in the county.
