History of Anne Arundel County Chapter

Our local Center was established in 1978 by citizens concerned about the plight of unemployed and otherwise economically disadvantaged persons.

OIC works! Our program has helped write innumerable stories of people rebuilding their lives and setting out again toward their goals with newfound confidence. More than 70% of our trainees successfully complete a training program and start new careers. Individuals, their families, and the community all benefit.

OIC is truly a community partnership with the support of the City of Annapolis, Arundel Community Development Services, Anne Arundel Community College, business groups, civic groups, foundations and private individuals all contributing to the technical, financial and volunteer support of the center.

Our Staff, Board, Friends and Volunteers, believing fervently in OIC’s value to individuals and the community, are committed to helping as many people as possible to escape the downward spiral of poverty. We continue to reach out to all segments of the community to partner with us in giving our economically disadvantaged neighbors…

We truly believe in “A hand up – not a handout”
